Hello folks,

I am glad to share with you that Microsoft just released Update Rollup 9 (UR9) for System Center 2016.

Please find the description for each component that are fixed in System Center 2016 UR9 including the bugs that are fixed in System Center 2016 Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM), and System Center 2016 Data Protection Manager (SCDPM).

System Center 2016 components that are fixed in Update Rollup 9 are the following:

Update Rollup 9 for System Center 2016 is Now Available #SystemCenter #SysCtr 2 Virtual Machine Manager 2016 UR9 (KB4549434 & KB4549435):

You can obtain and install the update package from Windows Update directly, or Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), or you can go to the following URLs and manually download the update packages:

This Update Rollup has a small set of payload for VMM 2016, you can find the issues fixed below (around 3bugs fixed and 2 functionality updates):

  • Storage Provider Refresh fails when the NIC has no MAC present.
  • Performance counter data extracted using the rule “Micrososft.SystemCenter.VirtualMahcineManager.2016.CLoudUsageCollection ” is not stored correctly in OperationsManagerDW DB.
  • Incorrect display of OS version for WS 2019 Domain controller VMs.
  • With VMM 2016 UR9, you can now deploy Ubuntu 18.04 Virtual machines.
  • Support for VM Console connect using ‘Enhanced session’ has been added.

Here is a PowerShell script that will help you to automate the VMM agent update rollup on all your managed Hyper-V hosts.

Update Rollup 9 for System Center 2016 is Now Available #SystemCenter #SysCtr 2 Data Protection Manager 2016 UR9 (KB4534063)

KB4534063 Update Rollup 9 for System Center 2016 Data Protection Manager.

This update fixes the following issue:

  • In some scenarios, pruning job failures leading to storage bloat

Here are the other Improvements and Features:

  • An additional a layer of authentication is added for critical operations. You will be prompted to enter a security PIN when you perform Stop Protection with Delete data operations when integrating DPM with Azure Backup. Learn more about this improvement here.
  • Added a new parameter -CheckReplicaFragmentation in the Copy-DPMDatasourceReplica cmdlet. The new parameter calculates the fragmentation percentage for a replica. Learn more.

Please note that a fresh installation of the Update Rollup 9 Agent could cause a restart of the protected server.
