As we end another year and preparing for 2017 to start…
With a humble and wide open heart–thank you for following, sharing and modeling my work (whether via my blog posts/Facebook posts/tweets/books/live events) over these past 12 months.
I wanted to share with you the greatest value to me over 2016, I will try to summarize it in this blog post.
We kick-off the year by speaking at the second Azure ITCamp, a big IT community event focusing on the Microsoft CloudOS Platform. With national and international speakers, and over 400 attendees it was a great event!
In February, my fellow MVP Romain Serre (@RomSerre) and I, we released a new whitepaper about the Microsoft Hyper-Converged solution to the community that is complete, comprehensive, concise, and free.
In March, I had the opportunity to speak at the third Azure ITCamp, in Microsoft Dubai Office.
In April, I had the opportunity to speak at the HP & AMD Technology Workshop in Istanbul, Turkey!
In May, I had the opportunity to speak at the fourth Azure ITCamp – Hybrid Infrastructure in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. I delivered two sessions (Azure IaaS and Azure Stack).
In September, I had the opportunity to travel and attend the biggest Microsoft Ignite conference in Atlanta, United States.
[Left to right: Clint Wyckoff (MVP), Dave Kawula (MVP), Ben Armstrong (Principal Program Manager lead on the Hyper-V team), Didier Van Hoye (MVP), Me (MVP), Andy Syrewicze (MVP)].
While at Atlanta, I had the chance to do an interview with Carsten Rachfahl and fellow MVPs to talk about the Ignite experience and discussed about the new features released in Windows Server 2016 Hyper-V.
In October, I was re-awarded with the Microsoft® Most Valuable Professional (MVP) for Cloud and Datacenter Management which is a great honor. As a third time MVP, I am greatly humbled and gracious for all those in the community that have found my contributions meaningful.
In November, the fantastic Microsoft MVP Summit in Redmond (Seattle), where MVPs from all around the world and members of product groups get together for several days. One of the great things is networking…
Some of the work I really enjoyed in 2016 was, building a Microsoft private cloud using the Cloud OS stack on top of HPE Apollo and HPE Blades system, 32 Cores, 40Gbps, 3PAR storage Full Flash and 1TB RAM.
Last but not least, ending the year by passing the Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate 70-743 Exam: Upgrading Your Skills to Windows Server 2016 on the first attempt!
As a blogger focusing on Microsoft technologies it was fun
So let’s start wrapping up 2016.
Where did the readers come from?
The top 10 countries:
The Louvre Museum has 8.5 million visitors per year. This blog was viewed about 216,000 times in 2016, 170,000 times in 2015 and 59,000 times in 2014. If it were an exhibit at the Louvre Museum, it would take about 9 days for that many people to see it.
The busiest day of the year was November 29th, 2016 with 1,150 views. The most popular post that day was How to install DPM 2016 on Windows Server 2016 and SQL Server 2016?

Another great thing I could do in 2016 was working with my partners in several different projects. I really have to thank all my sponsors here: Altaro VMBackup, StarWind Software and 5nine Software.
So how do I summarize all of this?
People interest in Hyper-V and in Microsoft CloudOS Platform in general continues to rise more and more…
My Expectation for 2017
I see 2017 will be an epic year, if 2016 was a year of consolidation, 2017 promises to be a year of creation for Microsoft.
Aside from all of that, I am writing two books, and I look forward to speak at a few conferences later this year! For now, however, I will return to finalize the final draft of my two books due early in 2017, Windows Server 2016 Hyper-V, Cookbook – Second Edition and Getting Started with Windows Nano Server.
I am looking forward for 2017 to kick-off…
Thank you all for reading my blog and the comments throughout the year, may you all have a healthy, successful and outstanding New Year!
Until then… see you in 2017!
Cheers,
