Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) is a professional certification that recognizes individuals with the skills and expertise to train others on Microsoft technologies and products. MCTs are recognized as experts in their field and highly respected by their peers and clients.

To become a Microsoft Certified Trainer, individuals must first obtain a Microsoft certification in a relevant technology, such as Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Security, or Windows Server. They must also meet certain requirements for teaching experience, instructional skills, and Microsoft-related work experience.

Once certified, MCTs are authorized to deliver official Microsoft training courses and can use Microsoft Official Courseware (MOC). MCTs also have access to various resources and tools to help them prepare for their training sessions, including instructor-led training (ILT) kits, virtual labs, and other training materials.

Becoming a Microsoft Certified Trainer is a great way to advance your career in the technology industry and share your expertise with others. It also demonstrates your commitment to ongoing professional development and lifelong learning.

Microsoft Certified Trainer

Many of Microsoft’s software and technologies are technically complex, and IT professionals may require training from knowledgeable trainers.

A Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) is a professional trainer who has been certified by Microsoft as an expert in terms of professional knowledge and the ability to share this knowledge with others properly. MCTs are considered the premier instructional and technical experts in all Microsoft technologies, and they have the sole authority to deliver training for other Microsoft Certifications.

It is great to be a part of this community for another year, and I look forward to meeting other MCTs.

I appreciate all the efforts to continue developing such great content for the official Microsoft Official Courseware (MOCs) and Microsoft Learn.

How to Become an MCT?

As a Microsoft Certified Trainer, you must earn a Microsoft Certification that validates your experience and knowledge of using Microsoft products and solutions for each course you deliver and your teaching capability.

The Microsoft Certified Trainer program is an annual membership program. To apply for/renew your training certification for the coming year, you need to complete program requirements, complete an online application, and pay an annual fee (Microsoft currently waives it, but it might return in the future).

One requirement to renew the MCT certificate is to teach at least one class 12 months before the renewal, and you must submit a score or training summary report to Microsoft. Microsoft recommends that MCTs use Metrics That Matter (MTM) to collect surveys and automate the renewal process. For people who don’t use MTM, for example, if you are using the SurveyMonkey survey as a supporting document, you can manually upload the score or training summary report in jpeg, pdf, or doc format to renew your MCT certification.

If you are interested in becoming an MCT, please review the MCT Program Guide and the MCT Program Agreement below to understand the terms of membership:

The MCT program is for educators worldwide who actively deliver training on Microsoft technologies. I highly encourage you to apply if you possess a qualifying certification and are passionate about this work.

You can choose your learning experience through the Tech Community Hub, Microsoft Q&A, and all-new Learning Rooms. Together, they offer a comprehensive approach to learning and present unique benefits depending on your learning style and skilling goals.

> Tech Community: The Tech Community hub provides Microsoft Learn updates and lets you connect with experts. It’s the perfect place to start a conversation, get advice on which path to take, or explore certifications.

> Microsoft Q&A: For technical answers, you can try Microsoft Q&A, where you can get answers from Microsoft experts.

> Learning rooms: Learning rooms are a NEW space for connecting with experts and peers. They provide a safe environment for asynchronous discussions and virtual sessions facilitated by Microsoft Learn experts.

You can check the learning rooms directory to join a learning room. Furthermore, you must have a Microsoft account and fill out a form to join a room. On the other hand, experts, such as Microsoft Most Valuable Professionals (MVPs), Microsoft Certified Trainers (MCTs), and Microsoft Technical and Trainers (MTTs) are selected by invitation only.

Learning rooms offer opportunities for tech professionals at any stage of their career to advance their skills. Through the Learn Community, you can expand your network, connect with others in the field, and gain hands-on experience with topic-specific technologies, all while sharpening your Microsoft Azure Cloud skills.

In learning rooms, you can learn at your own pace in a safe and supportive environment alongside peers and experts on your path to skill up on Azure. This will help you strengthen your knowledge and accelerate your cloud computing career.
